tsumori chisato + flowers in L.A.
August 2, 2007
tsumori chisato, studied at bunkamura and established herself in paris, brings life to tokyo style as demonstrated in her kaileidescope of colors. her collection is always cute and funky. i think it further feeds my peter pan syndrome for all things youthful and fresh.
these are some of my favorite tsumori chisato designs fromt the s/s 07.

on a street pulse after the m.i.a. show, i spotted color print florals in one piece dresses. quite the bit tsumori chisato-inspired. sisley (1st left) makes her own floral frocks out of mumu dresses she collects around west hollywood. girl (2nd right) was spotted coming out of cinespace.

ratatouille already has been out for a few weeks. i haven’t watched it yet, but i heard it’s a fun, foodie movie. it’s also a cute enough movie that marc jacobs decided to make a shoe of a mouse. apparently everyone’s cashing in on the movies and pop culture, i hear it’s the simpsons’ shoe next.
i found the mouse ballerinas by marc jacobs on collette. i’d wear it. then again, i wear anything that’s ridiculously cute and not-for-my-age.

i’m excited out of my mind these came in the mail today. everytime the dhl guy rings my bell, i delusional enought to think it’s a treat only for me! actually, this is from the s/s ’07 sweet punk line and they sold like hot cakes at marc jacobs on melrose. i got it here on sale, or you can d.i.y. here. i really like net-a-porter. not only does net-a-porter have a good range of designers (like luella, miu miu, stella mccartney, chloe exclusive boutique which only i could dream of and compare to the tokyo chloe!, alexander mcqueen, fendi), they mid-range price level for the assortment they carry , and the magazine feature is quite resourceful. however, i must warn you that delivery via the dhl guy is slow, slow, slow and thus elevates my anticipation. hot.

- I’ve been contributing to a marketing research company that spells out seasonal reports on movements in “style and culture” pertaining to the high street and luxury. it’s funny how my 2005 recycled thrift glamour has warped into travel luxury. it is fun nonetheless, and indeed part of our culture and times. I gave it up and collaborated with LStyleReport on it’s virgin report on Tokyo Spring ’07. Check it out here: lstylereport. login + password: lambesis. go to Spring ’07, City Snapshots, Tokyo. i did the writing and got my first photo credits. my first onine publication indeed. i worked with my very first editor, Mandana Towhidy, who is someone i admire because she’s worked with an eclectic array of publications around the world. you know how much i love to go global.

- trend spotting/scouting/hunting and producing trend reports for the global design of Levi Struass & Co. is still going strong. it took me sometime to transition from tokyo to la street style and retail happenings, but thanks to a slow LA trends and ever sunny days, i’ve been able to get out there and do my thang. how does opening ceremony LA survive? they’ve got tons of winter clothes on their racks, an impressive list of designers and countries, and pricey. this isn’t your ordinary premium boutique. oh, did i mention their sale starts today? i’ve been following denim developments lately for levi’s and i wouldn’t be able to do my reports without denimology. levi’s is all over the place and making headlines that even i don’t know. they are doing well from being an all american jean to premium, designer style. they developed an organic jean recently…
